Bengal BJP leader Sri Tapan Sikdar breathed his last (Expired) today, June 2 in Delhi. He was a great leader and has contributed a lot in establishing BJP in West Bengal. He was the first elected MP of BJP from West Bengal. He won Dumdum Loksabha seat in 1999 and was taken in the Vajpayee ministry.

Sri Tapan Sikdar had served the nation as central minister between 1999 and 2004. He was also state president of BJP for long time. He was BJP candidate in this Loksabha election, 2009 from Dumdum Loksabha constituency, West Bengal. However, he lost this election.

He had been suffering from various ailments since last two months. Finally, he was admitted into AIMS, Delhi where he breathed his last. His mundane body will be brought back to Kolkata this evening. BJP state leaders will pay homage to him at party office and then his body will be taken to burning ghat for funeral.

Narendra Modi Vichar Manch pays homage to the soul. Our heartiest condolence to Sri Tapan Sikdar. May his soul rest in peace in the heaven.

NB: I called his family members to show condolence and a female member of his family requested me to arrange for a suitable place in the burning ghat in Kolkata to build a "Bedi" in his memory. I request the State government of West Bengal to provide a suitable place for the same.
